Questions about our tuk-tuk tours
What people ask us most before booking.
What is a tuk-tuk?
An electric tuk-tuk is a small open-air vehicle with a roof: think of a golf cart with your own driver. It carries only your group through the narrow streets of the centre, right up to the monuments, so you see a lot of Rome with very little walking.
Is it like a golf cart tour?
Very similar: both are small, open, electric vehicles that reach the narrow lanes a bus can't, with a driver who takes you from sight to sight. Ours is a tuk-tuk, with a roof, and every tour is private: only your group on board.
Is the tour private?
Yes, always. The tuk-tuk carries only your group, never other travellers. Each tuk-tuk seats up to 4 people; groups of 5 to 8 travel in two tuk-tuks together.
How much walking is there?
Very little. The tuk-tuk takes you close to every sight: you get off at the stops to look around and take photos, then climb back in. It is an easy way to see Rome with older relatives or tired legs.
You do need to step in and out of the vehicle: there is no space for a wheelchair.
Is it better than the hop-on hop-off bus?
It is a different way to see Rome. The bus follows a fixed route along the main roads, with many passengers and an audio guide. The tuk-tuk is private, goes into the narrow streets the bus can't reach and stops where the sights are, at your pace.
Can you pick us up at our hotel?
Each tour starts from its meeting point, shown on the tour page and on your ticket. If you are staying in the city centre, we can often arrange to pick you up at your hotel or B&B: tell us after booking and we will confirm.
Which languages do the drivers speak? Is there a guide?
Our drivers speak Italian and English and are happy to chat and point things out along the way, but this is not a narrated history tour. If you would like a licensed tour guide on board, ask us: we can arrange one on request.
Can children come?
Of course, with no minimum age: that is up to the parents. Children up to 12 pay 20% less. Please note there are no child seats on board.
What if it rains?
The tuk-tuk has a roof, so a little rain does not spoil the tour: Rome is beautiful in the rain too.
How much does a tour cost?
Tours start at €65 per adult for the 2-hour tour of the highlights; children up to 12 pay 20% less. You pay online when you book, and you can ask for a refund up to 48 hours before the tour.
